Gerald Laing

St Pancras Editions is delighted to launch with an exclusive silkscreen edition by an artist of such calibre and historical importance as Gerald Laing (b 1936). One of the original wave of Pop artists, Laing produced some of the most significant works of the British Pop movement and today continues to hold his rightful place as one of the most important artists of his generation.

In London during the early 1960s he pioneered the newsprint style painting of enormous canvases based on newspaper photographs of models, astronauts and film stars, before moving to New York to work alongside contemporaries including Warhol, Lichtenstein and Indiana.

On his return to the UK, Laing focused on an incredible body of sculptural work including such renowned pieces as the Twickenham Stadium ‘line-out’ bronze and the bas- relief twin dragons at the exits of London’s Bank station.

Returning to painting in 2003, his work features prominently in major museum retrospectives worldwide and is held in prestigious public collections including the Tate, MOMA and the Whitney. Laing works are highly prized by influential collectors around the world.
